VinIF Funds Dr. Le Duy Dung’s V-IndoorCARE Project at VinUniversity
V-IndoorCARE: Advanced AI System for Indoor Air Quality and Energy Efficiency
VinIF (Vingroup Innovation Foundation) has announced its funding for the V-IndoorCARE project, one of seven outstanding projects selected from 123 nationwide applicants in 2024. This groundbreaking initiative aims to enhance indoor air quality and energy efficiency by developing an advanced AI-enabled environmental simulation and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) control system.
In collaboration with VinUniversity and leading domestic and international universities, V-IndoorCARE integrates cutting-edge technologies, including real-time data from IoT devices, AI algorithms, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to create a “digital twin” of indoor spaces. The project offers comprehensive solutions for air quality monitoring, HVAC optimization, and energy efficiency while maintaining thermal comfort.
Specific Objectives:
- Develop precise 3D models of indoor spaces using mobile LiDAR technology to support accurate simulations.
- Monitor key environmental parameters (PM2.5, CO2, temperature, and humidity) in real time.
- Leverage CFD to optimize airflow and heat transfer.
- Utilize AI-driven systems to dynamically adjust HVAC settings for energy efficiency and air quality balance.
- Build a scalable cloud-based platform for data integration and real-world pilot testing.
Expected Impacts:
- Academic: Contribute an open-access indoor air quality dataset, publish findings in top-tier journals, and expand research in AI and environmental simulation.
- Practical: Improve energy efficiency (30-50% reduction), enhance indoor air quality, and promote sustainable building practices.
- Economic and Social: Reduce HVAC energy and healthcare costs, enhancing public health and economic savings.
- Policy: Influence Vietnam’s building regulations and indoor air quality standards.
