On May 17, 2025, students from the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at VinUniversity embarked on an insightful field trip to the VinFast manufacturing complex in Hai Phong. This visit was an integral part of the CECS curriculum, designed to bridge academic knowledge with real-world industrial applications, and to inspire innovation and a pioneering spirit among future engineers.
During the tour, students explored three of VinFast’s key workshops: the Stamping Workshop, the Body Welding Workshop, and the General Assembly Workshop.
The Stamping Workshop, covering an area of 50,000 m², is where flat steel sheets are transformed into precise body panels. This facility boasts a production capacity of up to 16 parts per minute, highlighting its efficiency and scale.
In the Body Welding Workshop, students witnessed a highly automated environment where approximately 1,200 ABB robots perform thousands of welds per vehicle, ensuring structural integrity and consistency.
The General Assembly Workshop is where various components come together to form the final vehicle. This workshop utilizes advanced automation technologies, including automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and smart torque tools, to ensure precision and efficiency throughout the assembly process.
This immersive experience provided CECS students with a comprehensive understanding of modern automotive manufacturing processes, reinforcing their academic learning and offering valuable insights into the industry’s practical aspects.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Mario Vietti, Director of the Plastic Injection Workshop at VinFast, for his warm welcome and for sharing his expertise during the visit. We also thank the dedicated VinFast team members—Mr. Minh, Ms. Linh, Ms. Mai Hoa, Ms. Quỳnh Hoa, Ms. Thùy Trang, and others—for their support and for facilitating a memorable and educational experience for our students.
This visit not only enriched the students’ academic journey but also ignited their passion for engineering and innovation, aligning with CECS’s mission to cultivate future leaders in technology and industry.
