On May 20th, the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at VinUni hosted a working meeting with representatives from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. The delegation from NTU included Prof. Yeong Wai Yee and Assoc. Prof. Tuan Tran, both leading researchers in mechanical and aerospace engineering.
NTU is recognized as one of Asia’s and the world’s top universities, renowned for its strong research capabilities and innovation in engineering, technology, and applied sciences. The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is among the university’s largest and most research-active schools, with extensive international and industrial collaborations.
Representing VinUni were Prof. Laurent El Ghaoui – Dean of CECS, Assoc. Prof. Pham Ngoc Nam – Vice Dean, Assist. Prof. Do Tho Truong – Program Director of Mechanical Engineering (ME), Dr. Nguyen Vu Linh – Associate Program Director of ME, and Dr. Nguyen Dang Tung – ME faculty member and Director of Career Services and Industry Engagement.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several potential areas for collaboration, including:
-
Co-supervision of graduate students and joint research projects
-
Student exchange programs and collaborative teaching opportunities
-
Future possibilities for joint engagement with industry partners
CECS also shared about the development of its RISE Centers (Research, Innovation, Sustainability, and Excellence) — a series of interdisciplinary research centers, each supported by an initial investment to foster cutting-edge work in key thematic areas.
Looking ahead, both parties expressed a strong interest in continuing the dialogue and deepening collaboration. Proposed initiatives include a future visit to NTU and the potential co-organization of a joint workshop, with the broader goal of forming trilateral partnerships among VinUni, NTU, and industrial collaborators.
This meeting marks a meaningful step toward establishing a long-term, strategic partnership between CECS at VinUni and MAE at NTU, laying the groundwork for impactful academic and research cooperation in the region.
