VinUniversity Students Won Honorable Judge Award in The Cloud Programming World Cup in Japan

Nguyen Tuan Hiep and Vu Truong Giang, 3rd year students at College of Engineering and Computer Science, VinUniversity were recently won the Honorable Judge Award with their project “Nijgaku Traffic Radio” in the Cloud Programming World Cup for students in Tokyo, Japan on November 17th. The competition attracted participating students from top universities in various countries such as Japan, China, Korea, etc.

For the theme of “Connecting people” of this season, Tuan Hiep and Truong Giang developed a traffic accident notification system for the drivers’ vicinity on a mobile application utilizing FORUM8 UC-win/Road software to process accident situations. Once installed, the application will automatically report occurred accidents to the system and notify nearby drivers as well as the relevant authorities to involve emergency support for the accidents, while helping other drivers to alter their travel plan in real time.

“Nijigaku Traffic Radio” is a solution that replaces FM radio-connected system traffic radios with Internet connections, with the ability to select information filters and personalize each driver’s experience. The team faced many challenges such as time constraints, limited in-person meeting for work and the contest’s requirement to use new technology. However, fortunately, the team received supports from College of Engineering and Computer Science, the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center and VinUni Entrepreneurship Lab with the necessary equipment, computers and paper works to make it to Japan for the competition,” shared Tuan Hiep and Truong Giang.
