Opportunity for VinUniversity Students to Study and Research at South Korea’s Leading Science & Technology University

July 19, 2022

VinUniversity and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in culture, education, and science. The MOU focuses on educational activities such as: joint research activities, publication, and library exchanges; exchange of invitations to scholars to participate in conferences, colloquia, and symposia; exchange of faculty members and students for study, teaching, and research, etc.

Notably, the student exchange program will commence in the 2022 – 2023 academic year. Every year, a maximum of 4 VinUniversity students will have the chance to exchange at POSTECH and vice versa. As part of the program, the two universities recognize each other’s quality and corresponding credits. Additionally, students will be able to take part in research projects with the supervision of the partner university’s professors and lecturers during the program.

POSTECH is a leading research university located in South Korea. In 2019, Reuters ranks POSTECH 1st in Asia and 12th worldwide for innovation. In 2012, the University was one of Times Higher Education’s “100 Under 50 Young Universities”.

Additionally, Times Higher Education considers POSTECH the world’s best university for industry connection and collaboration. This is also one of VinUniversity’s key curriculum emphasis, offering students the greatest comparative advantage compared to other students post-graduation.

Providing students with opportunities to study, research, and experience life at leading universities and research institutes abroad is one of VinUni’s key objectives. In addition to POSTECH, VinUniversity has cooperated with many prestigious universities around the world to implement student exchange programs, such as: Cornell University (USA), University of Technology Sydney (Australia); Yonsei University (Korea); Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne – EPFL, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Toronto (Canada), NYENRODE Business School (Netherlands), etc.

In order to receive the most benefits and the best experiences, VinUniversity students will begin their exchange program in their 3rd year at university. The first batch of VinUniversity students going on exchange programs abroad will start in the Spring semester of the 2022 – 2023 academic year. Currently, there are about 60 student exchange spots available at partner universities for VinUniversity students. The list of partner universities and corresponding exchange spots will be announced in the near future.

Students can choose to attend or conduct research at a partner institution at no additional cost. For example, VinUniversity students will continue paying their tuition fees at VinUniversity and go on exchange at POSTECH without incurring tuition costs from POSTECH. However, in order to participate in the program, students will have to cover their own airfare, accommodation, and so on during their study abroad.
