Student Exchange Program with EPFL – Europe’s Leading Engineering Institute

July 25, 2022

Recently, VinUniversity and EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, signed a cooperation agreement to implement an exchange program for 3rd- and 4th-year VinUniversity College of Engineering and Computer Science students. Accordingly, from the 2022-2023 academic year, a maximum of 4 VinUniversity students will have the opportunity to exchange at EPFL.

Participating in the exchange program with EPFL, VinUniversity students will:

🔸 Experience learning at one of Europe’s most prestigious technology and engineering institutes, which ranks 14th on the QS World University Rankings 2022. EPFL is a leading public research university located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

🔸 Earn credits for corresponding subjects at VinUniversity.

🔸 Have to pay no additional tuition fees at the partner university – EPFL.

🔸 Immerse in a multinational community of faculty and students from over 120 countries. EPFL ranks 12th for diversity.

🔸 Explore and experience Swiss culture – considered one of the most livable countries on Earth.

Previously, VinUniversity and EPFL had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in teaching and research, including collaboration in the non-degree executive education programs, student exchange programs, exchanges of academic materials, joint research activities, etc.

In addition to EPFL, to implement student exchange programs, VinUniversity has cooperated with many reputable universities around the world, such as: Cornell University (USA); University of Technology Sydney (Australia); Yonsei University, Pohang University of Science and Technology (South Korea); Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; University of Toronto (Canada); Nyenrode Business University (Netherlands), etc.

In order to receive the most benefits and the best experiences, VinUniversity students will begin their exchange program in their 3rd year at university. The first batch of VinUniversity students going on exchange programs abroad will start in the Spring semester of the 2022 – 2023 academic year. Currently, there are about 60 student exchange spots available at partner universities for VinUniversity students. The list of partner universities and corresponding exchange spots will be announced in the near future.

Students can choose to attend or conduct research at a partner institution at no additional cost. For example, VinUniversity students will continue paying their tuition fees at VinUniversity and go on exchange at EPFL without incurring tuition costs from EPFL. However, in order to participate in the program, students will have to cover their own airfare, accommodation, and so on during their study abroad.
