VinUniversity Offering Full Scholarships for Its First Cohort of The Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science Program
VinUniversity recently announced its Ph.D. in Computer Science program, which focuses on future technology with major impacts. Notably, all research students will be offered a full scholarship and monthly stipend throughout, with a total value of upward 1.2 billion VND/person/year.

Admitted Ph.D. students will be offered a 100% scholarship (40,000 USD/year, approximately 900 million VND/year). At the same time, they will receive a monthly stipend of 1,000 USD when working as Research assistants or Teaching assistants at VinUniversity.
Ph.D. students will have 1-2 years of research exchange overseas at world-renowned universities, including: the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; the University of California Berkeley; Cornell University; Stanford University; the University of California Los Angeles; Monash University; the University of Technology Sydney;etc.. During their time abroad, VinUniversity Ph.D. students will receive a scholarship that covers their living expenses, with a maximum of 25,000 USD/year.
Besides attractive scholarships and financial support, Ph.D. students will be guided by distinguished professors from VinUniversity and leading partner universities around the world.
Particularly, Prof. Wray Buntine, Director of Computer Science program at VinUniversity, is among the top 0.75% most cited researchers globally in Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing. Other distinguished professors who will be directly supervising the Ph.D. students include: Prof. Omar Yaghi – University of California Berkeley, winner of the VinFuture Special Prize, top 5 most cited scientists globally; Prof. Rashid Bashir – Grainger Distinguished Chair in Engineering and Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Prof. Laurent El Ghaoui – Dean of VinUniversity College of Engineering and Computer Science, top 0.3% most cited scientists globally in Industrial Engineering and Automation; Prof. Do Ngoc Minh – VinUniversity Honorary Vice Provost, Thomas and Margaret Huang Endowed Professor in Signal Processing and Data Science in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; etc.

Discussing the aim of the program, Prof. Laurent El Ghaoui, Dean of VinUniversity College of Engineering and Computer Science, shared: “VinUniversity prioritizes the training of professional researchers, who have the potential to develop and use new knowledge for breakthrough initiatives that possess high practicality and exert major impacts on society”.
In its first year, VinUniversity will admit 10 most outstanding candidates. In order to apply to the program, applicants need to meet the Ministry of Education and Training’s requirements and a minimum IELTS score of6.5. More importantly, applicants must pass the Interview Round by demonstrating VinUniversity’s unique AACC criteria: Outstanding Ability, Aspiration, Creativity, and Commitment.
