CECS explores collaborative opportunities with Furiosa.ai and Dudaji in advanced technology and innovation

June 19, 2025

On June 18, 2025, the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at VinUniversity welcomed representatives from two forward-thinking technology companies—Furiosa.ai Vietnam and Dudaji—for an in-depth conversation on potential academic-industry collaboration. The meeting focused on identifying mutual areas of interest in AI hardware, software development, and applied AI research, with the goal of fostering student engagement and real-world innovation.

The meeting brought together Mr. Yungbum Jung (Director of Tech Sales, Furiosa.ai Vietnam) and Mr. Hong Seok Hwan (CEO, Dudaji), along with faculty representatives from CECS, including Prof. Songdeok Cha (Professor, Computer Science program), Dr. Nguyen Dang Tung (Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering program), Assoc. Prof. Mo El-Haj (Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering program), and Dr. Le Duy Dung (Program Director, Data Science & Associate Program Director, Computer Science).

Aligning AI Hardware Innovation with Academic Research

The conversation with Furiosa.ai centered on the company’s mission to develop high-performance, power-efficient AI chips that support deep learning across both data center and edge computing environments. As Furiosa.ai expands its operations in Vietnam, the company expressed interest in partnering with leading universities to explore research topics that intersect artificial intelligence and hardware systems.

Discussions with the CECS team emphasized how this vision aligns with VinUni’s strengths in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Both sides expressed enthusiasm for exploring future collaborations through student internships, capstone projects, and research initiatives that combine academic insight with industry application.

Exploring MLOps and Intelligent Communication with Dudaji

In the second part of the meeting, CECS engaged with Dudaji, a software company headquartered in South Korea with a growing engineering team in Vietnam. Dudaji presented its capabilities in MLOps pipelines, AI automation tools, and its work on intelligent communication platforms.

A key highlight was the introduction of Middo—a real-time multilingual chat app developed by Dudaji that leverages AI-powered translation to support seamless cross-language conversations. Supporting over 100 languages, Middo showcases Dudaji’s strength in practical AI applications for global communication.

Following the presentation, Dr. Le Duy Dung shared his perspectives on how VinUni’s ongoing exploration of medical translation and AI for healthcare communication could complement tools like Middo. While not presenting a specific project, Dr. Dung offered his insights into the university’s direction in natural language processing and its relevance in healthcare contexts, particularly for multilingual environments. This exchange led to meaningful discussion around future collaboration in developing AI for social good, especially in improving accessibility and communication in healthcare.

The visit underscored CECS’s proactive approach to engaging with industry partners that share a commitment to innovative research and student-centered collaboration. Whether in AI hardware or scalable language technologies, Furiosa.ai and Dudaji offer valuable expertise that complements CECS’s academic mission.

These conversations lay the groundwork for continued engagement in the form of collaborative research, capstone projects, and internship opportunities—bridging academic knowledge with real-world technological impact.
