PURSUE A MASTER’S DEGREE AT A TOP 50 UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD

March 26, 2024

“If I don’t receive a scholarship of 1100 from Vingroup Corporation, I think it will be challenging to pursue a master’s degree so early because usually one has to complete their undergraduate studies before pursuing a master’s degree,” Le Nu Uyen Phuong – a young woman from Hue, Vietnam – shared her thoughts on the difficulty of pursuing a master’s degree without obtaining a VinUni scholarship.

After an exciting exchange semester at the University of Sydney in Australia, Lê Nữ Uyên Phương will continue her studies in Data Science at the University of Queensland (ranked #43 in the QS World University Rankings 2022), located in the beautiful “Land Down Under.” She is enrolled in the integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s program. Additionally, Phương has successfully secured a Master’s scholarship from Vingroup Corporation.

When asked about the factors that helped her earn the scholarship, she shared that having a strong academic background and deep research experience were crucial. “During my time at VinUni, I worked as a Research Assistant for Prof. Wray Buntine in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP), which allowed me to develop skills in reading research papers, programming languages, and building relationships with professors in the field.”

Uyen Phuong added, “The learning environment in Australia, compared to VinUni, is not significantly different, and the structure of the courses is similar to what I learned. The only difference is that it’s much easier to interact with professors at VinUni. Therefore, I don’t think there will be any cultural shock when studying at one of the best universities in the world.”
For this program, the student from the College of Engineering & Computer Science hopes to acquire more knowledge to return to serve and one day become a colleague of the professors at VinUni.
