CECS will host a research seminar by Dr. Trung Le from Monash University on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. The talk will explore Optimal Transport (OT) as a powerful theoretical tool with growing influence across disciplines, particularly in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Seminar From Mass to Meaning – Optimal Transport and Its Modern Applications
- Time 11:00AM – 12:30PM (VNT)
- Venue I421, Building I, VinUniversity
The seminar will offer a multi-faceted view of OT, including its roles in distribution alignment, graphical model learning, unsupervised representation discovery, and robust generalization in both Bayesian and deep learning frameworks. Dr. Le will also discuss recent work on model fine-tuning through PEFT and applications in aligning and distilling large language models—highlighting results recognized with a Best Paper Award at NeurIPS 2024.
Dr. Trung Le has authored over 200 publications, including 100+ in A*-ranked venues, and leads research at the intersection of theory and application in modern AI. His work is supported by over $4M AUD in funding from agencies and industry partners such as ARC, DST, the US Air Force, Telstra, and Adobe Research.
This seminar is part of CECS’s commitment to advancing research and fostering academic exchange in emerging areas of science and technology.
