UROP projects are grouped into the following time periods: Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters.
Duration: at least a semester for a specific project, minimum 20 hours/month and maximum 60 hours/month.
While most projects take place on VinUni campus, there are occasionally opportunities for conducting research off-campus such as students working remotely in foreign countries during exchange semester, participating in research workshop/conference or students who are not enrolled in summer courses during summer semester. In these cases, students receive direct supervision from CECS faculty/PI through weekly online meetings/reports, etc. Please note that these opportunities are only available for UROP students who are not otherwise expected to be on campus for in-person learning.
Canvas will be used as a platform to divide students into research groups and collect Performance Reports (Midterm and Final Report). CECS staff coordinates the course, faculty review and evaluate student reports.
The UROP courses are divided into two options to accommodate the needs of students with different aspirations and levels of research experience:
- Option 1 comprises four courses: UROP1010, UROP2010, UROP3010, UROP4010. This is a 1-credit elective course offered for students who would like to take credit for doing research. Read more here.
- Option 2 comprises four courses: UROP1011, UROP2011, UROP3011, UROP4011. It is designed as a 0-credit elective course, which is suitable for students who have demonstrated a strong dedication to research through their initial experiences. Read more here.
